Classroom Faculty

Mina D'Alessandro
West Campus
Mrs. D'Alessandro is the resource teacher at Lutheran Unity School. She helps students ranging from pre-school to eighth grade. Mrs. D'Allessandro received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Dominican University and a Master of Arts degree in Special Education from The University of Phoenix. Her professional work experience includes teaching kindergarten, working for the Maywood and Melrose Park public school systems as a resource teacher, and substitute teaching while managing the library in a private school. 

Susanna Bac

West Campus

Mrs. Bac earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from Concordia University, River Forest. She also holds a Type 04 certificate. She has taught in early childhood for ten years, one year in Kindergarten, the other nine at the Preschool level. Susanna has taught at both private and public schools and has managed half day, full day and mixed age (3-5 yr. olds) classrooms.



Mikki Wo
West Campus
Mrs. Mikki Wo is married and has 2 children. She is a member at St. Paul Lutheran Church and has been teaching Kindergarten here since 1994. She received her Early Childhood degree from Concordia Chicago.
Mark Wickboldt

West Campus

Mr. Wickboldt has served in the teaching ministry since 1974. He earned both his BA in Education and MA in Educational Administration from Concordia University, River Forest. He served Zion Lutheran School in Akron, Ohio, and Messiah Lutheran School in Chicago before coming to Lutheran Unity. Most of his teaching experience has been in the middle and upper grades, where he continues to enjoy teaching math, science physical education, and a variety of other subjects. He was principal at Messiah from 1983-1993 and again from 2001-2011. Mr. Wickboldt has coached a variety of school sports over the years, and especially enjoys coaching cross country and track.

Ryan Pickett

West Campus

Mr. Pickett earned a bachelor's degree from American University in Washington, D.C., where he studied International Studies and Economics, and a M.ED from Valparaiso University.  Prior to joining Lutheran Unity, he taught reading, language arts, and social studies for two years on the south side of Chicago, and has worked for various nonprofits doing after-school youth education programs. Mr. Pickett is excited to teach the students at Lutheran Unity to become better readers and writers, and cultivate their interest in learning about histories and cultures from countries around the world.


Veronica Gahgan

West Campus

Mrs. Gahgan is the first and second grade teacher at Lutheran Unity-West. After fourteen years as a paramedic, and eventually becoming a firefighter as well, she graduated from Concordia University Chicago with a degree in elementary education and minors in English and theology. Her favorite verse is Philippians 4:13: I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

Vanessa Ueltzen
West Campus
Mrs. Ueltzen has been teaching in Lutheran schools since 1997. Her teaching career began at Messiah Lutheran School in Chicago, which then led to her current position at Lutheran Unity. She has taught in grades 3-8 and across the curriculum, with a specialization in Language Arts. She is a product of Chicago Lutheran schools and a proud alumna of Luther High School North. She received a bachelor's degree from Concordia University Chicago in Secondary Education with a major in English and a double minor in Chemistry and Speech/Theater, and is currently working on a Master's in Educational Technology from Concordia University in Mequon, Wisconsin. Mrs. Ueltzen is thrilled to share her educational ministry with the students of Lutheran Unity School and their families!​

Karen Koenig

Art Teacher

West Campus

Mrs. Koenig graduated from North Park College and received her Master's Degree in Art Education from the University of Illinois. Before coming to LUSA, she taught in suburban public schools for many years. She taught at St. Paul for 11 years and has been with LUSA since it opened. She has traveled extensively with her husband and uses her travel experiences in her art classes. 




Heather Gustafson

West Campus

Heather Gustafson is the Preschool 3 teacher at Lutheran Unity. She has an Elementary Education degree and endorsements in Language Arts and Social Studies.  She has taught early childhood classes in public and private schools for over 15 years.



Antonette (Kulesza) Lamberty

P.E. Teacher

West Campus

Ms. Kulesza earned her K-12 degree in teaching from Concordia University River Forest, with a PE major and Art Minor. She has taught at Hope Lutheran School on the south side of Chicago and Grace English Lutheran School on the north side. She is currently working on her Masters in School Counseling. Ms. Kulesza is married with two children that attend Luther North College Prep, her Alma mater. She has coached since 1991 in various sports at various levels and has been an Athletic Director at three different schools. She teaches under her maiden name to honor and show respect to her parents that helped her, supported her, and paid for her education. She is looking forward to this school year with all of its challenges and blessings!
